A Little Tea With Some History

Because of the coronavirus outbreak, Hearts & Homes Historic Teas are suspended through September 1. Please check back as we continue to respond to the changing health situation.

Hearts & Homes Historic Teas combine a delicious 3-course lunch with a program of readings from the historic pages of the women’s section of Wallaces’ Farmer magazine. The program is held at the Wallace House, in the same rooms where Nancy Wallace edited her Hearts & Homes column from 1895 to 1909. Nancy’s column provided sound advice and thought-provoking commentary still useful today.

Scheduled throughout the year, “Open Tea” dates accept reservations from the general public.  Nearly all the fruits and vegetables used in the menu are grown at the Country Life Center farm. Other ingredients are locally sourced whenever possible. Please let us know about dietary restrictions and accessibility needs in advance. Cost: $25/person.

Because our class and event experiences are planned on pre-registrations, fees are non-refundable if cancellation received less than 10 days before the event date. Refunds for reservations made by credit card will reflect a deduction of the transaction fees. Registrants are always welcome to send someone in their place if unable to attend.

Customized just for you

Tell us a little bit about your group and we’ll customize our program to fit your interests. Private historic tea programs are available weekdays at a base price of $600 for up to 20 guests. Each additional guest is $27 with a maximum of 26 people. Teas begin at 11:30 am, unless the group specifies otherwise. Call 515.243.7063 for more information or email Deborah Boyer.
