Planned Giving

A planned gift can continue the generosity that you’ve demonstrated throughout your life. As a 501c3, WCI accepts unrestricted gifts and gifts for specific programs and purposes. Accepted gifts include cash, securities, real estate, bequests, life insurance beneficiary designations, and several other kinds. A charitable bequest offers these benefits:

Simplicity. Just a few sentences are all that is needed. Share the official bequest language below with your estate planning attorney.
Flexibility. Because you are not actually making a gift until after your lifetime, you can change your mind at any time.
Versatility. You can structure the bequest to leave a specific items or amount of money, make the gift contingent upon a certain event, or leave a percentage of your estate.
Tax Relief. If your estate is subject to estate tax, your gift is entitled to an estate tax charitable deduction for the gift’s full value.

Planned gifts can be directed to WCI’s endowment, to provide long-term support. WCI holds two endowment funds at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines:

  • Wallace Centers of Iowa Endow Iowa fund
  • Wallace Centers of Iowa Endowment fund
