From the Sisters: A Program of Letters

Hearts & Homes Luncheons combine a 3-course lunch with a program of readings from the historic pages of the women’s section of Wallaces’ Farmer magazine. The program is held at the Wallace House, in the same rooms where Nancy Cantwell Wallace edited her Hearts & Homes column from 1895 to 1909. Nancy’s readers referred to each other as “sisters” and provided much content, including sound advice and thought-provoking commentary still of interest today.

Scheduled throughout the year, Hearts & Homes Luncheons are open to the general public by reservation. Some of the recipes in our menus are from the pages of the Hearts & Homes column and nearly all the fruits and vegetables are grown at the Wallace Farm. Other ingredients are locally sourced whenever possible. Please let us know about dietary restrictions and accessibility needs in advance.

Note: Starting in 2024, beverages include water, iced tea and coffee but not hot tea.

Because our program experiences are planned on pre-registrations, fees are non-refundable if cancellation received less than 10 days before the event date. Refunds for reservations made by credit card will reflect a deduction of the transaction fees. Registrants are always welcome to send someone in their place if unable to attend.

Customized just for you

Tell us a little bit about your group and we’ll customize our program to fit your interests. Private Hearts & Homes Luncheon programs begin at 11:30 am, unless the group specifies otherwise. Call 515.243.7063 for more information or email Colette. Please let us know about dietary restrictions and accessibility needs in advance.
