Hold Your Next Event in a Historic House
Originally constructed in 1882, the Wallace House has been restored to a fine example of a Victorian residence. “Uncle Henry” and Nancy Cantwell Wallace lived in the house in 1895 when they founded Wallaces’ Farmer, a farm journal. It is now an important part of the Sherman Hill National Historic District in Des Moines. The first floor space provides a gracious, historic setting for gatherings of all kinds.
Capacity: 45 for a standing appetizer reception, 40 for a sit-down meal.
Catering: Food service will be provided by one of the Wallace Center’s talented guest chefs. Menus highlight local and seasonal ingredients. All Wallace House rentals involve a meal or appetizer hour. Because of our limited space we do not rent the Wallace House for events without an accompanying meal.
