Generous Support from the Community
Since its inception, The Wallace Centers of Iowa has received generous support from the community in many ways: volunteer efforts, in-kind support, memberships/donations, and artifact donations. We are pleased to feature these generous contributions:
After a severe windstorm in June 2018, WCI is receiving donations of all sizes to help with damage assessment, clean-up, recovery planning and implementation. The process is on-going, with many hours devoted to conversations with stakeholders and potential partners, program and operation analysis and planning. We appreciate the support and understanding of our donors as we explore opportunities and work to recover.
FCS provides volunteers and financial support
A great team of 20 volunteers from Farm Credit Services America in Perry, Iowa traveled to the Country Life Center in September 2018 to clean and sort a mountain of garlic bulbs. More than 1,200 pounds of garlic were sorted by size and later sold to Iowa farmers across Iowa. In addition to the hands-on volunteer work, Farm Credit Services matched the hours of service with a $2,000 donation. Our sincere thanks to FCS America for all their support.
Two major gifts led to the grand opening of the Gathering Barn’s second floor meeting room in May, 2017. Formerly used as storage, a $150,000 gift transformed the space into a comfortable meeting room for about 45 people. The room’s vaulted ceiling and exposed beams are in keeping with typical barn architecture. A second gift of $10,000 from Bob and Patty Jester in memory of David Wallace was earmarked for an elevator in order to provide accessibility for all.
