Generous Support from the Community
The Wallace Centers of Iowa receives generous support from the community in many ways: volunteer efforts, in-kind gifts, memberships/donations, and artifact donations. We are pleased to feature these generous contributions:
New Event Support
With a $5,000 grant, MidAmerican Energy is supporting the launch of “Pizza on the Prairie”–a new family-friendly event at the Country Life Center. Freshly-made pizza, packed with straight-from-the-farm veggies, will be accompanied by beverages and desserts, live music and yard games. Pizza on the Prairie will be part of the Sept. 7 Prairie Art Exhibit and Festival, followed by September 13, 20 & 27 from 4:30 to 8 pm.
FCS provides volunteers and financial support
A great team of 20 volunteers from Farm Credit Services America in Perry, Iowa traveled to the Country Life Center in September 2018 to clean and sort a mountain of garlic bulbs. More than 1,200 pounds of garlic were sorted by size and later sold to Iowa farmers across Iowa. In addition to the hands-on volunteer work, Farm Credit Services matched the hours of service with a $2,000 donation. Our sincere thanks to FCS America for all their support.
Marlene Schildberg (c) of the E.F. and Sylvia Schildberg Foundation presents a $5,000 grant check to WCI staff Deb Houghtaling (l) and Ann Taylor for farmhouse roof repairs in April 2019. The roof’s pitch will be changed to allow for better runoff.
