SUMMARY:Seeds of Memory Sound Walk
DESCRIPTION:Open June 5 through September in 2026\, Seeds of Memory is a site-responsive sound installation by artists Anna Gebhardt and Philip Rabalais that transforms Wallace Farm into an immersive listening experience. \nCreated in honor of the 100-year anniversary of Henry A. Wallace founding Pioneer\, this sound walk invites you to walk the historic farm and prairie using your smartphone and headphones. Triggered by listeners’ movements\, recordings of piano\, voice\, saxophone\, and synthesized instruments automatically grow and evolve in response to seeds found throughout the site. \nFrom the pansies Henry A.’s mother used to teach him about cross-breeding to the hybrid corn varieties that helped shape the future of agriculture\, Seeds of Memory offers a new way to experience the stories\, sounds\, and living history of Wallace Farm. \nPlease note that we will have a limited number of headphones available to borrow during Pizza on the Prairie and when staff are on site during the week\, but we highly recommend you bring your own for a fully immersive experience. \nSupport for this project is provided by the Iowa Tourism Office and Iowa Arts Council\, which exist within the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

SUMMARY:Historic Corn Plot Dinner - 100 Years of Pioneer
DESCRIPTION:Each course of this special meal at the Wallace Farm includes corn as a featured ingredient. Previously harvested from the on-site Henry A. Wallace Historic Corn Plot\, field corn is ground into cornmeal\, corn flour and corn grits. Doors open at 6 pm\, dinner begins at 6:30 pm. Wine\, beer & signature cocktails available for purchase. \nYou’re encouraged to arrive early to walk the grounds\, see this year’s corn plot and view the new prairie art exhibit. In order to welcome as many people as possible\, this event is community seating. Special guests will join us this year to share more about origins of Pioneer Hi-Bred and Henry A. Wallace as we celebrate 100 years since Henry A. founded the company. \nMenu\nZucchini Corn Fritter\nsambal oelek\, ricotta\, fried leek\, flowers \nSmoked Chicken\ncorn pudding\, sauce soubise\, red pepper coulis\, seasonal vegetables \nPastel de Elote\nsweet corn cake\, raspberries\, cream angles \nMenu subject to change based on ingredients from the farm. Vegetarian option available for this dinner. \n*tickets are not available after August 21. \nBecause our dinners are planned on pre-registrations\, fees are non-refundable if cancellation received less than 10 days before the event date. Refunds for reservations made by credit card will reflect a deduction of the transaction fees. Registrants are always welcome to send someone in their place if unable to attend.
